One of the chief highlights of the Ivey experience is the South America Study Trip. The objective of this for-credit elective is to enable students to learn in a direct and immediate way what doing business in Brazil and Chile looks like in 2011. Students will have the opportunity to visit Brazil and Chile’s main cultural and commercial centres, including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Santiago.
The trip complements the more traditional classroom activities of the Ivey MBA through a fun and enriching experiential program. Included in the itinerary are site visits to companies (both multinational and local) and networking meetings with Ivey alumni in these cities. Ultimately, students take away a more intimate understanding of the important economic, political, and social issues facing Brazil and Chile today; gain firsthand knowledge of what it takes to operate successfully in these two rapidly developing economies; and develop awareness of emerging business opportunities in the region.Upon this educational foundation, students also build lasting memories with their classmates through shared adventures and exploration.
Following the trip participants will share their reflections of business practices and cultural experiences with each other and the Ivey community in the form of slideshows and reports.
