China Study Trip

One of the chief highlights of the Ivey experience is the China Study Trip. The objective of this for-credit elective is to enable students to gain direct, on-the-ground exposure to the culture and business environment of the world’s fastest growing economy. Students will have the opportunity to visit China’s main cultural and commercial centres, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong.

The trip complements the more traditional classroom activities of the Ivey MBA through a fun and enriching experiential program. Included in the itinerary are cultural plunges (similar to an ‘Amazing Race’), site visits to companies (both multinational and Chinese), and networking meetings with business leaders, government officials, Ivey alumni, and MBA students from Chinese universities.

Ultimately, students take away a more intimate understanding of the important economic, political, and social issues facing China today; gain firsthand knowledge of what it takes to operate successfully in China’s dynamic business environment; and develop awareness of emerging business opportunities in the region. Upon this educational foundation, students also build lasting memories with their classmates through shared adventures and exploration.
